Looking ahead

Future Projects

These six potential projects and priorities are part of the conversation about the future of Saugeen Shores. Each one will require careful planning, public input and a clear understanding of costs and benefits.

01

Additional ice pad

Our growing community needs a careful review of current ice demand, future recreation needs, location options and both construction and operating costs. I will support a practical plan built on clear evidence, community input and a funding approach taxpayers can afford.

02

Southampton Town Hall and Library Upgrades

These important community buildings should be accessible, functional and prepared for the future while respecting Southampton’s heritage character. Any upgrade should follow a phased, affordable plan developed with the people who use these spaces.

03

Performing arts centre

A performing arts centre could support local culture, tourism and year-round community activity. Before moving forward, we must understand demand, the right size and location, potential partnerships and the long-term operating costs.

04

Improve engineering designs

Major projects need stronger design review, realistic cost estimates and better oversight before construction begins. Learning from past mistakes will help prevent costly changes, delays and avoidable disruption.

05

Funding model for major projects

Future projects will require a balanced funding model that considers reserves, grants, development-related revenue, community fundraising and responsible partnerships. The goal must be to move important work forward without placing an unfair burden on taxpayers.

06

Explore waste-to-energy generation

Waste-to-energy technology deserves an evidence-based review of its environmental, financial and regulatory implications. No decision should be made without reliable research, expert advice, public input and a clear understanding of the long-term risks and benefits.

Planning today for the community we want tomorrow.

Future projects must be affordable, responsible and supported by a sound plan. I will ask the right questions and keep residents informed as more details become available.
